Carter, Domestic Shorthair For Adoption In Encinitas, California

Location:
Encinitas, CA
Description:

*** Carter is in a foster home. ***Orange tabby, short hair, neutered male, born approx. 4/15/22, #18088Other cats: best as only cat Dogs: unknown Children: tweens+ / adults Carter was originally found as a small kitten near a freeway exit by a Good Samaritan who tried to get him adopted out of her house before reaching out to The Rescue House when he was a teen. Carter found a home but then ended up not getting along with the resident cat. He has come back to us hoping second time is the charm! Carter has been diagnosed with hyperesthesia, an extreme sensitivity of his skin, which is well-managed with an inexpensive daily medication. Carter is a distinguished-looking gentleman who also frequently demonstrates the infamous single brain cell that all ginger cats seem to share. Poised one moment, goofball chasing his toy the next. He loves to play and is very active. Carter likes ping pong balls, kicker sticks, anything with catnip, and toilet paper rolls. He's happy when you bring out a wand and will engage you in tons of playtime. Carter is a curious fellow, though has a hint of reserve that means he can startle easily and thus prefers a little introductory time to newcomers. With known visitors he will come out to interact but might wander off if a toy doesn't present itself. He's a real sweetheart: independent enough not to be clingy while still being an active participant in your daily activities. He likes the mellow sunshine in the window life. Carter has his daily medication routine down pat: he'll patiently wait in his reserved spot while you put his meds in a Churu treat... yum!Carter would be best as a solo cat. He has enjoyed playtime with kittens, but finds that living with other adult cats can sometimes be stressful for him and hyperesthesia is best managed with low stress. He co-exists with the other adult cats in his foster home but prefers not to interact with them. We do not know his thoughts on dogs. Gentle older tweens and up would likely be okay, though he overall prefers a quieter routine-driven environment.Carter will be the crowning glory to your home! Will you love this ginger boy for a lifetime?Adoption processAll prospective adopters must complete an application and be interviewed as part of the adoption process.Shelter locationWe at The Rescue House believe that we can contribute to the welfare of our furry friends by implementing an Adoption Program.
